Reach Your Goals
The THRIVE program is about unlocking your unlimited potential, in college and beyond. Join other students with similar experiences and a commitment to their dreams, supported by staff who can guide you and student mentors who have been down this path before. You will find resources and knowledge that will help you realize everything that college has to offer.

The First-Year Experience
By participating in the THRIVE program, you have everything you need to be successful. Here's a snapshot of the things you'll get to experience during your first year of college.
Summer Bridge
THRIVE students have a unique opportunity to start their first semester of college before other students. During this time we begin our journey into college, get to know each other, and get a head-start on class for the fall.
First-Year Courses
Our community continues through the academic year, where you will explore a unique curriculum covering the science of a meaningful life. Learn more about who you are in a deep way and what is possible for all of us.
Peer-Mentoring
Each new student is paired with an experienced student who has participated in the program and has been successful in college. Start your journey with someone who has been down the road ahead of you and can help you achieve your goals by providing resources and encouragement.
Success Coaching
Receive individual guidance and support from an experienced and certified success coach, who can help you navigate the new landscape of college, and your new life as a college student.Engagement Beyond the Classroom
Regular trips, often planned by students, take our classroom out into the community, where you can expand your experience and build leadership skills, all with the support of your THRIVE peers.Paid, On-Campus Employment
THRIVE students have the opportunity to be matched with an on-campus student employment position. These jobs can help you build professional experience and all start at $10.15/hour.Residence-Based Learning Community*
Have priority access to campus housing, live near your THRIVE peers in the first-year of college, and experience additional events and activities.
*You are not required to live on campus to participate in the THRIVE program.

Eligibility
THRIVE is a scholarship and program for incoming, first-year, independent students. By that, we mean students who have had experiences with foster care, housing insecurity, homelessness, emancipation, legal guardianship determined by a court, or lack of family support. If you are just starting your journey at IUPUI and think that you may have experience in any of the areas above, you should apply.
Independent may mean you are “on your own” in your pursuit of a college education, but with THRIVE you can be part of a community that understands and supports each-other.
